Fiscal representation of companies established in European Union member countries outside Greece, buying merchandise from a third country (non-EU) and selling it directly into Greece as first EU country of entry, but do not wish to reveal to Greek buyers their source of imported merchandise.

Such companies can obtain through a “fiscal representative” Greek VAT registration to serve for their imports into the country that are accountable of payment of duties and VAT to the Greek authorities.

On cargo importation and customs clearance, payment of duties and VAT is performed and the goods can be sold to Greek customers by commercial invoices issued at their EU country the company has been established without accounting VAT to Greek buyers.

According to Act 2992/2002 and the advice of the Greek Ministry of Finance of January 23 rd, 2003, the obligation of an EU company for payment of VAT in Greece lies with them, however, the system is enabled through a Greek fiscal representative initiating registration, and maintaining locally VAT accounts and records on its behalf.

This system can be also possible for third country (outside EU) companies, provided that their country maintains customs agreements with the EU.
