FIRST FORWARDER IN GREECE CERTIFIED WITH
IS0-14001:2004
PHOENIX ECTS LIMITED of Piraeus and Thessaloniki is the first freight forwarder in Greece to have been certified since last Friday, July 15th, 2005, with ISO-14001:2004 for Environmental control and practices throughout all the company operations. The certificate has validity until July 2008.
The final audit was successfully performed last week by BUREAU VERITAS QUALITY INTERNATIONAL, on UKAS accreditation and the certified scope is "Overseas and European freight forwarding, sea freight, air freight, road transport, tank transport, railway transport, project transport, multi-modal freight and services pertaining to customs clearance, handling, warehousing, storage, physical distribution, global logistics and door-to-door cargo transfers".
The certification took place on integration with the periodic ISO-9001:2000 audit, which has been also successfully completed and thus certification under this standard was extended until July 2008.
PHOENIX has been the first freight forwarder in Greece to have received an International Quality certification, ISO-9002:1994 since 1994. Thereafter was the first with ISO-9001:2000 and now the first "green freight forwarder" with ISO-14001.
As included in the company Quality and Environmental statement, "PHOENIX Management has committed to comply with all legal and statutory rules, regulations and provisions related with its rendered services, with environmental protection and management, as well as with customers requirements, for ongoing improvement of the services and the effectiveness of the system. For this reason, PHOENIX established and has been applying an integrated Quality and Environmental Management System, in accordance to the International Standards ISO-9001:2000, and ISO-14001:2004. The scope of the system is that company activities relating to the inner and outer corporate environments develop not only under constant control and vigilance and thus not being performed at random, but are also in compliance with the commitment to conform with customer requirements, legal requirements, as well as improvement of the quality of the services rendered and prevention of pollution".
The company environmental policy falls within the understood corporate responsibility to minimize social costs and support "green customers" and the challenge for green supply chains, responsive to the needs of its customers, particularly as PHOENIX has been heavily involved in freight, transport and logistics of chemicals, automotive spare parts, pharmaceuticals, scientific machinery, technological materials etc.
